Baghdad Connect

Baghdad Connect is a bit of a dark horse. It gives bits of news and analysis from Iraq you do not get from anywhere else. But who are they?? Then a scan of their archive shows a letter to the Iraqi Communist Party (in the Green Zone) criticising the policy of their alliance with Allawi:
Who is Alawi? He is not part of our league neither us are part of his. And he could betray us as the Baath party did when it reversed the process of scientific socialism. We cannot rely on him just because he promised us colorful ministerial positions. He will forget all about us when the Oil deals start to pile up his desk.
Hell hath no fury than a Communist scorned.

you really are a legend Salam Adil. I praise you until the day one of us dies. Thank god you became interested in the Iraqi Blogosphere- the OB network appreciates your help and myself I really appreciate what you are doing here at Iraq Blog Count.

I was fearing this site would become inactive and dissapear- when it had been a central part of the Iraqi Blogosphere.

Many Iraqi bloggers would never have been discovered without Iraq Blog Count. Keep up the good work, maybe you should try to find another person who can equal your dedication to the Iraqi Blogosphere to help you- especially in those times when you have business to attend to!

thanks from the hearts of all who care about Iraq Blog Count. You truely will be remembered as significant in this part of Iraq's history; I promise you that.

Hello Salam Adil,

I was looking for your email to send you a message and, since there is none available, I decided to drop you a note right here. I'd like to invite you to have a look in my webcomics about Iraq. It's "Tales of Iraq War": http://tales-of-iraq-war.blogspot.com/

Your comments are welcome.

Best regards,

I hope I don't offend by asking, but is this a web site indexing blogs OF Iraqi people, or more generally people in Iraq?

Olivebranch - what we really need is people scanning the blogosphere and posting comments here every time a new blog appears - actually what we really, really need is someone to go around Iraq encouraging every Iraqi with moderate English and an Internet connection to start blogging!

Latuff - wow - strong cartoons. I'm impressed.

Zappy - what do you mean 'goodbye'? she is still blogging!

Riot Starter - unfortunately one sentence does not a blog make. I'll keep an eye on it.

Robert - Good question! This blog is sort of part of Iraqi blogging history there have been many authors and its true purpose has been lost in the mists of time. IMHO, I would say it is a list of blogs by Iraqi people who blog about Iraq or being Iraqi some of the time. Having said that, if an English person decides to move to Iraq permanently and blogs from Iraq I would add that to the list but I would not add, say military blogs or foreign contractor blogs.
