In that case, how will god punish Iraq for producing Saddam?

#9/02/2004 05:17:00 pm Assalam Aleikom Anonymous Anonymous

By sending Americans?

#9/02/2004 05:50:00 pm Assalam Aleikom Anonymous Anonymous

Nah, by sending Arab brothers from Saudi Arabia and Syria to bomb children on school buses and young Iraqis looking for work.

Its not a tornado Khalid, it's a hurricane. And God doesn't "punish" people. PEOPLE punish people.

#9/02/2004 09:28:00 pm Assalam Aleikom Blogger madtom

Well, gee thanks Khalid, that hurricane is coming strait for me and I AM NOT A BUSH SUPPORTER.
Maybe you could put in a good word for me with Alla, tell him I AM NOT A BUSH SUPPORTER.

ihath, How can they "produce" saddam...?
I mean the guy is a bastard..
we only know his mother sabha.... It maybe a non-Iraqi person who helped in his "production".....

#9/02/2004 11:36:00 pm Assalam Aleikom Blogger ihath

True, we can't tell about his dad, but still he was raised on true Iraqi values and the warm embrace of the Iraqi culture. I think we hold some responsibilty for that monster even if his father was an alien.

Jeffrey, Jeffrey, Jeffrey, I told you not to push your luck when I am in my moody state. Let this be a lesson for you for when you get married.

Ihath,

While I have disagreed with some of your viewpoints, I would never hold you or any Iraqi responsible for Saddam. Regardless of breeding or environment, ultimately we must each be responsible for ourselves. Please don't ever take the blame for Saddam's atrocities and don't feel like you need to apologize. The vast majority of Iraqi civilians were Saddam's victims not his collaborators. When he finally stands trial, he will stand alone.

Torchbearer,
We disagree again. The honorable and honest have died an honorable and honest death and there were many of them. The rest, well! Some collaborated with the criminals and the rest of us lived in silence and fear. Saddam deserves every bit of justice coming his way, but, can the marines liberate me of this shame?

No. You will have to do that on your own. You might want to start by reading this.Torchbearer

As an marxist, I'm atheist, but every night I do my best pray to Allah: I beg him only a couple months of sandstorn...

Peaple: I'm a brazilian and I know people. I'm very much sad with this war. Bush doen't makes me sad nor mad. Nor the marines, becouse they are just human to. Those who didn't loss their humanity knows who they are fighting. Nor the stupid pilots that just don't see the faces who they kill.

But american civilized people do make me sad. Not mad. Just sad. Who said "the good ones have the guilt for the evil caused by the bad ones"?

Alvaro,

A Marxist? You're kidding me, right? Who in the world believes that version of Economic Comics anymore? Have you read anything about the century that just passed? You do realize that ownership of all porperty by the ruling party means absolute tyranny, right? Private property and the energies it unleashes have proven again and again how baleful is the influence of "communal property." It just doens't work. The US has a 10 trillion dollar GDP because people work hard to provide the best for their family and their hard work brings real benefits, not standing in line for a government handout.

You admitted you don't know much about economics. No kidding. You have read one book, you say. Whew! How can you even attempt to comment of economic issues after having read ONE book?! Here's a list of other important economists you might want to check out:

Adam Smith
David Ricardo
John Stuart Mill
Alfred Marshall
Thorstein Veblen
John Maynard Keynes
Joseph Schumpeter
Milton Friedman

Just off the top of my head.

This is for Alvaro and all the others who lack a real understanding of the history and the character of the American people of the United States.

Haven't you ever wondered why it is that the United States has led all other countries for over a century now in science and technology and has the largest economic engine in the history of civilization? We walked on the moon six times. No one person from another country joined us. Our first time was July 20, 1969 -- 35 years ago! China has now started to talk about sending an astronaut to the moon. The computers all of us are using were imagined, designed, and created by Americans. How is all of this possible?

Let's ask some outside yet keen observers:

Check out Jean-Francois Revel's "Without Marx of Jesus" and Beppe Severgnini's "Ciao, America."

And how about an American citizen originally from India. Check out Dinesh D-Souza's "What's so Great about America."

I'm warning you, though, many of you will have to drop your platitudes when you read these books. The real "shock and awe," for those with the long view of history, is the amazing release of human energy at the heart of American society. Nothing will stop us. Certainly not Bin-Laden in his cave nor Saddam in his spiderhole.

I will not talk with a boy who had such cruel and inhuman insult to Riverbend.

You want to debate me about marxism? Please, appologises Riverbend in the same place you had insult her: reopen you failled blog and make your appologie. If so, I will consider you a man and debate you.

By the way, we are talking here about weather: the hurricane is approaching Florida. The other one had to much damage becouse the State National Guard, instead of staied in Florida with heavy equipment to protect the american against such bad weather, was in Iraq...

As we said in Brazil: Deus escreve certo por linhas tortas... (this is NOT a insult, then I invite all to translate)

Aquele abraço!

"As an marxist, I'm atheist, but every night I do my best pray to Allah" -Alvaro

So you pray to a god that you don't believe in? Do you suffer from multiple personality disorder or are you just a little confused?

Alvaro,

Please tell me what this grave insult was that I directed toward the Doleful Dame of Baghdad (Riverbend, for the uninitiated).

I'm 47, so "boy" is a little bit off. I may be juvenile at times, but I am not a boy. I have gray hair to prove it.

You're a gas, Alvaro.

Alvaro,

About the National Guard, you're absolutely wrong. Jason (http://iraqnow.blogspot.com) spent a year in Iraq and is now in Florida and his unit is helping out now on their second hurricane relief effort for this summer.

Now you absolutely do NOT want to take me up on matters military. There is NO military that compares to the American troops. No other country has the force projection of the US. Our military drawfs all other militaries. It is not even close. We can reach out and touch anyone anywhere in the world. European troops, however, by way of contrast, had trouble even getting their troops to Kosovo in their own region!!

Alvaro, do not even think about talking about various militaries with me. Just let that pass. You don't want to go there.

To Jeffrev:

In your failled blog, you write:

First, I wanted to offer people a place where they could comment on the posts of those Iraqi Bloggers who refused to enable comments pages -- Faiza, Riverbend, Raed, and Khalid. This had already been started by Cry Me a Riverbend, but when he shut his site down due to death threats I decided to throw up a quick blog to carry the baton. Then, you carry the baton of Cry Me a Riverbend... I think Riverbend deserve some apologies by this cruel and inhuman treatment. What I said is if one made this, he was a boy, whatever the old he had. By sincerely apologising Riverbend, this boy perhaps becomes a man.

Aquele abraço!

"As an marxist, I'm atheist, but every night I do my best pray to Allah" - Alvaro

So you pray to a god that you don't believe in?
There is a "god" question... I will try to explain this.

First of all, marxism is NOT stalinism. Stalin was a kind of Saddan in Russian Revolution and the marxists - Trotsky is one of them - fight to death against his bureaucracy. But, they was defeat and the counterrevolution allow USSR turns into capitalism, despite several decades after. We do not support the crimes of Stalin simple becouse we were the first victim of such crimes.

Marxism is a philosophy that states the thinkings of a human being are material products (eletromagnetical impulses in neoronas) of the brain of one that is immersed in a material environment. Then, cilizations created Goods and not the contrary. In that sense, Goods have a material existence and have a strong influence in humans.

Than, I do my best pray to Allah, begging him to a couple of months of sandstorn in Iraq. Becouse if the american air backup is off, this illegal war will end in a couple of months, of course...

Aquele abraço!

The term atheism is formed of the Greek prefix ?- (a-), meaning "without" or "not," and the Greek-derived theism, meaning a belief in a god. The literal meaning of the term is therefore "lack of belief in a god."You are an atheist praying to a god that you don't believe in. You pray for this god (whose existence you deny) to bring a sandstorm to Iraq because you think the American military is superior only due to air support. I would suggest that you drop whatever you are doing and seek medical attention. Your brain appears to be suffering from a major malfunction.

#9/06/2004 09:29:00 am Assalam Aleikom Blogger Alvaro Frota

I only made a brazilian-minded joke:

Fron an atheist to Allah: "Old fellow, please, doesn't send hurricanes to Florida, only send two months of sandstorn to Iraq"Brazilians make a lot of jokes about everthing: their jobs, the politicians, the Portuguese people (who colonized us), and also there are a lot of jokes about Good. We say "Deus é brasileiro" (Good is brazilian). But I fell nobody in this blog understands my joke. Of course, there was a cultural barrier here. Sorry...

About the definition of Atheism of that encyclopedia, it corresponds to the mechanical materialism: Good don't exist. Period.

The dialectical materialism (marxism) has a different view. It states that Goods do exist and have strong influence over the humans. People believe in Good and their behavior reflect this. Then, Good do exist. This is a material fact.

But, according marxism, every Good was a creation of one civilization and reflect the social laws and culture of this civilization. Even the idea that is only one Good, that is very recent, in Historical terms, correspond to the modern civilization that arise after the Crusades.

Don't misunderstand me, please: I hadn't the intention to offend the believers. I only intend to joke, in a brazilian way, and failed... Then, this philosophical discution about Good arises.

Aquele abraço!

Jeffrey --

Just what does your outburst of patriotic fervour exactly mean? You ignore the fact that there are alternative reasons for your successes, not all of them palatable.

"Haven't you ever wondered why it is that the United States has led all other countries for over a century now in science and technology ..."

You seem to forget that until the end of the Second World War, it was Nazi Germany that led the way in a considerable array of scientific fields. And that a great chunk of the discoveries in the field of astrophysics and so forth have come courtesy of non US citizens? And that many of the "US" achievements were courtesy of immigrants such as Germans and Italians. I would like to see just how you would have gotten your man on the moon without Von Braun. Walked, perhaps.

Without the influx of foreign intellectual capital you would be far less grand, I assure you.

"Nothing will stop us."

Stop you from what, exactly? From economic success? In which case I wish you the best of luck.
Sincerely.
Go for it.
Make money!
Shoo, off with you!

(You ought to be reviewing your stock portfolio and cheering the latest job cuts instead of trying to subject Iraqis to your superior airs.)

But if you are talking global domination, then we will see about that, my dear little neocon.

And, does anyone else find this hilarious? This:

"Now you absolutely do NOT want to take me up on matters military ... Alvaro, do not even think about talking about various militaries with me. Just let that pass. You don't want to go there."

God I had a good laugh.

Hey, Jeffrey, I'm South African, so you absolutely do NOT want to take me up on matters regarding gold and platinum. You don't want to go there. Because, through a peculiar osmosis, I have absorbed immense knowledge of these subjects by vitue of being South African.

LOL !

So Jeffrey, you want to tell me why the greatest military in the world has money for researching stealth nuclear submarines and fancy laser battlefield weapons that may or may not be useful, yet does not even properly equip its soldiers at the outset of a campaign? And, how come you've been using that crappy M-16 rifle for years, even though everybody knows it is inferior to a competing 57 year old design? And ... how about that Crusader artillery system, huh? Wasn't that the damndest thing?
