Heard a curious thing last week...
A former Anglican bishop quoting an Israeli poet;
The Place Where We Are Right
From the place where we are right
flowers will never grow
in the spring.
The place where we are right
is hard and trampled
like a yard.
But doubts and loves
dig up the world
like a mole, a plow.
And a whisper will be heard
where the ruined
house once stood.
Richard Holloway reciting Yehuda Amichai June 2001.

Hi Emigre,
I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know that I love your new blog design. The old one used to take at 30 seconds to load on my machine even though I use a DSL connection.
thanks! but it is really blogger who must take the credit for providing all those chic new looks to play with.
I tried to change mine, but readers sent me e-mails wanting the old boring layout as it's easier to read. I had to change it back -:(
I really like dark backgrounds.
